In 2013 Kelsi and I bought our first home. It was a new house with an unfinished basement. At the time we thought it was perfect! We had a nice yard, great neighbors and plenty of space for Reid and JJ to play.

After a couple years of being in that home I took a job in Southern California working for a solar company. The plan at the time was to live there for 3-5 years and come back to East Idaho. Instead of selling the home, we decided to rent it to a family on a year lease. California was great, the weather was perfect, and the food was delicious. Kelsi spent her days at the beach or Disneyland while I worked. What more could we ask for? 

Well, after a few short months I had the strongest feeling that we needed to move back to East Idaho. Something felt off, I didn’t know what it was or why I was feeling it, but I knew we needed to move home. So; for what felt like the 100^th time, we loaded up the U-Haul and headed back to Idaho. The only problem was, we didn’t really have a place to live….

Just a little back story…Before we made the decision to move to California I decided to get my Real Estate License. I knew at some point I wanted to use it in some capacity. While we were in California I worked with a co-worker of mine back in East Idaho to list my childhood home. My mom had just been remarried and was moving into her new husband’s home just outside of town. The day we listed the home was a sad day. That home meant everything to me. I lived there my whole life. All the memories of playing with Dad who passed when I was 12 were in that home.  All the memories of wrestling, laying on the tramp, and the countless bruised shins I gave him playing catch in the backyard would be lost! Or so I thought. I was sad to potentially see it go.

I have lived in this home for almost 29 out of the 33 years that I have been on this great Earth. I remember the shag green carpet, orange counter tops, and colorful wallpaper that adorned each room. Over the years my family changed a few things here and there. We upgraded flooring, paint, and countertops while I was in High School, but the majority of the house was the same when we bought it. Kels and I budgeted a few small changes when we first moved in. We painted, hung some tile and a few other things.  Over the years we have slowly but surely remodeled every room in the house (some more than once) and gave the yard a major facelift while we were at it. We brought our two beautiful daughters home to this house.  The memories we have had here will be part of our story forever.

As the saying goes, all good things must come to an end. No, Kelsi and I aren’t splitting up, (don’t worry) BUT we are MOVING!! I honestly never thought I would say those words again. I don’t know exactly what happened the last couple of weeks, because it all happened so quickly. I don’t know if Covid played a factor or not but when I saw this house I had a burning in my chest like I never had before. And I look at homes everyday as a Realtor! I knew this was different. Over the next couple of weeks there were a lot of tears and talks.  It took a bit for us to put the offer in on the house because we wanted to make sure it was what we were supposed to do. Turns out it was the right thing, and we are so excited for our next adventure. Even though it will only be a few miles from where we are now, it will feel like “A whole new world”. We are so excited to share it with you.
